Dude......you da' man. P.L.B. is one of my fav poets. He came along well before the Harlem Renaissance and died WAY before his time. I think he was only in his early 30's when he died in the early 1900's. I think my favorite book from him was "Lyrics of a Lowly Life". He was way ahead of time because he could talk in the language of a scholar but still talk in negro slave-speak. MAJOR FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH. He was a dope poet.....

he said that current u.s. president george walker bush was "the most manifestly ill-qualified candidate thrown up by a major party since warren harding.".
while i must admit that i know little of president harding, in my lifetime no president (or candidate) prior to gwbush was ever as under-qualified for the office.

So naturally I like KRS-ONE, who is the conscieousness of rap. During my Society years I didn't really listen to rap, but some songs I cound not resist listening 2 i.e. 'Brand New Flavor in Your Ears' (Craig Mack/ Bad Boy Family), 'Vapors' (Biz Markie), 'Cross Over' (Eric B - Rakim.)"Word.......that was probably hip-hop's golden age (late 80's-early 90's). Yo, Rakim was like the next coming of Christ in hip-hop circles back in the day....
"So in answer to your question, Yes, i'm into rap music but I'm also into changing it's content. In the mean while, see rap for it's entertainment value and please don't try to live that life. And have an open ear to ALL TYPES OF MUSIC."

"Did you know Ja Rule was a JW? Well, not baptized, but I think his Momma is one."
Ja Rule WAS raised around JW's even though he never was baptized. Also, Biggie's mom IS a current JW. She goes to a congo in Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn. Her congo's name escapes me right now. Also, MC Lyte was raised around JW's as well.....

My favorite of his..."What Would God Do if He Were ME?""
Yo...I've heard your son. In fact they've played a couple of his joints during one of the late-night mix shows in Detroit. Hope he blows up.......

Valid point my man.....valid point.

Mick Jagger, Lyle Lovette, Steven Tyler. The list goes on and on.

Awww....suki, suki...now. I'm into MUSIC period. As far as hip-hop/rap goes I dig more of the PROGRESSIVE rap. I'm talkin' The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Bahamadia, Slum Village, Common. You know hip-hop with a positive message and some kind of originality and innovation without all the "bitches, hoes, tricks & thugs mentality. Most of the stuff that is played on the RADIO or that the record company marketing gurus choose to focus on is UTTER C-R-A-P. Radio rap has no originality and its sad because this gangsta rap and other commercialized hip-hop represents only a SMALL PART of all the hip-hop that's out there today.
Of the radio rap, the only ones that get ANY props from me are probably Jay-Z (sometimes), some of Tupac & Biggie's shit, Outkast and a couple others. My advice to peeps that aren't really feelin' hip-hop, don't take the stuff played on radio as representing the genre. It's just the part that record execs have used to MAKE MONEY.

"Perhaps Chris Rock was right when he said, "Men are as faithful as their options." What do you think teejay and black man?"
Yo...you got cool-points for quoting the Rock-Man, Larc. Actually, there's probably a lot of truth to that. To a certain degree we ARE dogs. We can LOVE our wives or girlfriends BUT there is always that little piece of machismo in us that sort of yearns for something new and exciting. I'm sure its even more intense IF you're the most powerful man in the free-world....I'm sure there are a bevy of women just willing to throw themselves at you. I think it would be hard for ANY man to resist the type of A-List women that you could bed in the position of being president. I was reading one of the Kennedy biographies and it showed pics of women that he allegedly knocked-boots with and they were ALL FINE. If I was Kennedy, I think Jackie would have been able to keep my interest enough to keep my fidelity. She was a fine-ass specimen of a woman (charm, grace, model-like features, style)......
Clinton coulda done a whole lot better with his selection. Monica Lewinsky? Jennifer Flowers? ****gag****. When its all said and done I think a GOOD NUMBER of these politicians are infidels. Clinton just got caught with his pants down.

Memorial Experiences from Hell
by Black Man inmemorial.....the time of year where we meditate on the supposed significance of jesus' death and watch all types of crazy mufuckas come out of the woodwork.
anyway, we had a new sister move into our territory and lo and behold claims she's of the anointed.
she was all of 40 years old, 350 pounds, friendly, feels that the friends should treat her with special reverence "since she's one of christ's brothers" (wouldn't that be sisters?).

"What were the reactions of the others watching?"Kinda dumbstruck "shake-your-head-while-pursing-your-lips" amazement like "I can't believe this woman is up here slurpin' Christ's blood from a got-damn straw".

My mom's best friend was annointed and was sitting a few seats away from the old lady. The people between them kept turning the cup a little hoping that my mom's friend wouldn't have to drink from the same side. It was totally funny at the time."
Yeah...that happened another time in my congo once or twice. Although it involved that interested yet highly mentally unstable bible study being brought to their first memorial. Totally hilarious

And if she got hungry during the memorial she could just take a nice, ripe pineapple from her hat for a snack!"LOL! Word......who knew....huh? Hilarious.....

Say...word. You're on-point with this one. Kennedy had my respect instantly by bedding the lovely Marilyn. Clinton's picks just lacked that....oh....how can I say it....luster. I kind of wonder how it would have been IF Kennedy were president now. Could he cover up his illicit trysts like he was able to back in the 60's?

Wassup Big Boi: Yeah, man I've been mad-busy at work and life lately. It's like the plantation **(sound of whip cracks)**. Anyway, I pop in when I can. Peace to you bruh....
TJ: I agree that Clinton IS one of the most talented and gifted presidents that we have ever had and I think in time peeps will recognize that. What WAS/IS his weakness is his personal judgment. I mean DAYUM, he fucked up seriously on the ethical/moral tip. But if they didn't have term limits there's no doubt he would be PREZ right now. I often wonder how he would have handled this crisis. I am NO fan of George Dubya, but I feel he's done alright during this crisis. It's too early to judge the efficiency of his presidency. I think you need at LEAST 2 years for that. Dubya's presidency is more of a presidency-by-committee type deal to me. While Clinton was outstanding (in my opinion) his overall staff to me didn't blaze any trails. Dubya has a more distinguished and rounded out cabinet. So yeah...he can be somewhat of an idiot but combine the peeps around him, you MAY have the makings of a great PRESIDENCY (not a great president, but a great PRESIDENCY).
Another observation, and don't get me wrong on this. Clinton was one of the most outstanding presidential speakers far surpassing Dubya. But I think Bush is a lot better and way more personable one-on-one. I think back to the congregation setting with a body of elders and you would have some that were outstanding in charisma and speaking, and then you would have one that wasn't so great but was awesome one-on-one in showing compassion, sympathy and understanding no matter how crude it may have come out. I think Dubya may be like that. Peeps that Bush has worked with as Governor and etc., just gush over the man. That's gotta say something.
I think use his name to get where he's gotten, but who hasn't? I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Now 2 years and 20,000 butchered english words later, my opinion may change. I don't have time to get into detailed accomplishments and failures of the two, but those are my casual observations.
